Original U.S. WWII M1 Fixed Bail Helmet With Capac Liner
Offered is an original U.S. WWII M1 fixed bale helmet complete with an original Capac liner.
The shell features a front seam rim and fixed chinstrap bales. The shell retains a majority of its original olive drab corked finish, showing minor wear and light surface scuffs in various areas. The shell exhibits a period stress crack in the rear extending upward from the rim, a condition occasionally encountered on WWII-manufactured M1 helmet shells. The web chinstrap is present and intact, with correct period hardware.
The helmet is fitted with an original WWII Westinghouse liner (see logo photo 8). The liner retains its original olive drab painted finish and remains exceptionally clean. The suspension system is complete and intact, with all web straps present and showing little wear. Retains the original nape/neck strap in very good condition. The leather sweatband remains supple and decently preserved, exhibiting age related wear and use. The leather chinstrap exhibits age related cracking and crazing but remains attached and displays well. The chinstrap appears to be post war / Korea War era issue.
