Original U.S. WWII M1 Garand Web Ammo Belt & 1943 Canteen Set
This is an original U.S. World War II field gear grouping consisting of an M1 Garand ammunition belt and canteen with cover, all acquired together as a set. Both pieces display matching age, wear, and field-used character, making for an attractive representative WWII U.S. Army equipment lot.
The ammunition belt is the standard WWII pattern designed to carry M1 Garand rifle ammunition clips. It retains its five-pocket configuration on each side for a total of ten ammunition pockets. The belt is faintly stamped "U.S." on the exterior but no maker markings or date could be located. The webbing remains solid overall and retains all of its original metal hardware and eyelets. Several of the pocket flaps exhibit damage and fraying, most likely caused by mice during long-term storage. Despite the damage, the belt still displays well.
Also included is an original WWII canteen, cover, and cap assembly. The khaki canvas cover retains its original hardware and is very faintly marked and dated 1943. The aluminum canteen is likewise marked and dated 1943. Still retains the plastic cap and chain. The cover shows typical age-related staining, discoloration, and handling wear accumulated through years of service and storage. The canteen remains solid and serviceable, displaying scattered dents, scratches, and honest field wear consistent with wartime use.
Please note that the canteen cup is not included with this set.
Overall, this is a desirable original U.S. WWII field gear grouping featuring two iconic pieces of American combat equipment. While the ammunition belt shows some storage-related mouse damage, the set remains good to very good condition.
