Original US WWI M1910 Mills Map Case With Eagle Snaps Dated 1918 With Shoulder Strap
An original U.S. WWI M1910 map case manufactured by Mills and clearly dated March 1918 beneath the flap. This desirable wartime example retains its original shoulder strap and features the harder to find eagle snap buttons throughout.
Constructed of olive drab canvas with blackened steel hardware, the map case remains in very good overall condition with honest age and light field/storage wear. The interior still retains its original transparent celluloid map windows with red grid markings intact. The wool felt divider is present, though it does show scattered moth damage and edge wear from age.
The original shoulder strap remains attached with correct blackened hooks and adjustment hardware. All eagle snaps are present and functional, adding excellent character and detail to the piece. The Mills maker/date stamp under the flap remains visible and reads “MAR. 1918.”
A very attractive and desirable original WWI U.S. Army field gear item that displays well and would make an excellent addition to any American Doughboy or WWI equipment collection.
