Original US WWII M1 Helmet Liner Made By Firestone

This is an original U.S. M1 helmet liner produced by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, one of the principal wartime manufacturers of M1 liners. The Firestone “F” within a shield logo, along with a number “49,” identifying the production mold rather than a date.

Constructed from high-pressure laminated fiber resin, this example retains its original wartime-style olive drab factory paint, showing expected surface wear, scratches, and minor scuffs from age and service use. The outer surface displays its original texture with no postwar repainting. There is a "L" shaped crack in the front of the liner, but does not detract from it's condition.

The interior retains the complete suspension system, featuring HBT (herringbone twill) cotton webbing, leather sweatband, and neck strap, all showing honest service wear and age toning. The leather sweatband remains supple with surface cracking, typical of use and age. The “A” washers (the triangular suspension washers) appear to be painted green.

This liner would have been paired with a standard steel M1 helmet shell used by both Army and Marine Corps personnel. A very good, complete example of a Firestone-produced M1 liner, perfect for completing an original combat helmet setup or for display in any U.S. WWII collection.
