Original US WWII M1941 USMC 2nd Pattern Backpack Upper Bag BOYT 44

Offered here is an original U.S. Marine Corps M1941 2nd Pattern Haversack Upper Bag, clearly marked “U.S.M.C.” and dated 1944.

The M1941 haversack system was standard issue to U.S. Marines throughout the Pacific Theater. The 2nd Pattern upper bag featured reinforced stitching and improved strap configuration over earlier variants, designed to integrate with the lower pack and various field gear attachments.

This example remains in used but solid condition with strong signs of period service.

The khaki canvas body shows honest field wear, age toning, and light staining consistent with wartime use. The interior is clearly stamped “U.S.M.C. BOYT 44”, a desirable wartime maker marking.

Notably, both the front and back panels display period zig-zag machine stitching repairs. These appear to be wartime field or depot repairs. The stitching has proper age, thread coloration, and wear consistent with WWII service.

Condition details:
• Several web strap ends show rodent (mice) damage
• Minor fraying present on select strap areas
• Original hardware intact with expected oxidation
• Canvas body remains structurally strong
• Period zig-zag reinforcement stitching visible on front and reverse

Despite the strap damage, this remains a very displayable and honest USMC combat-used example. Marine Corps-marked packs, especially 1944 dated examples, are always desirable, and the evident field repairs only enhance its historical appeal.

A solid, untouched WWII USMC haversack upper bag showing real service character.
