This is an original WWII USMC M1941 1st Pattern Backpack Upper Bag, manufactured by BOYT and marked “U.S.M.C. BOYT 44”
The M1941 Marine Corps backpack differs significantly from Army field gear of the period and was specifically designed for Marine combat operations in the Pacific. The 2nd Pattern version incorporated refinements in strap configuration and reinforcement stitching for improved durability and load support.
Condition is very good overall. The canvas exhibits field wear, staining throughout, and areas of discoloration consistent with age and service. The web straps remain solid and functional. No major structural damage is noted.
