Original US WWII USMC/Navy "Frog Skin" Reversible Camouflaged Poncho Unmarked
This is an original U.S. WWII reversible camouflage poncho of the type issued to U.S. Marine Corps and Navy personnel in the Pacific Theater. Constructed of water-resistant material, it features the distinctive “frog skin” camouflage pattern, with a green dominant jungle pattern on one side and a lighter brown dominant beach pattern on the reverse.
The poncho retains its integral hood and metal snap fasteners along the edges, allowing it to be worn as rain protection or joined with another poncho for use as an improvised shelter or ground cover.
No manufacturer or date markings are visible; however, the lighter beach side bears the stamped numbers “186 25”. The material remains pliable overall, although it is slightly stiff from many years of storage. There is one very small hole, as shown in the photos. Aside from this minor damage, the poncho displays very little evidence of use and remains in near-mint to excellent condition.
A very attractive and well preserved example of an iconic piece of U.S. WWII Pacific Theater camouflage equipment.
