Original German Pre-WWII 1936 “Führerblätter der H-Jugend” HJ Leadership Training Magazine With AH Photograph
This is an original Third Reich “Führerblätter der H-Jugend” (Leadership Papers of the H-Youth), Ausgabe H.J., dated April 1936. This was an official instructional publication produced for leaders of the H- Youth by the Reichsjugendführung der NSDAP, Amt für weltanschauliche Schulung (Reich Youth Leadership of the NSDAP, Office for Ideological Training). Period sources describe the Führerblätter as monthly material intended to educate HJ leaders on ideological, political, historical, and practical leadership subjects.
The cover title “Führerblätter der Hitler-Jugend” translates approximately to “Leadership Papers of the Hitler Youth,” while “Ausgabe H.J. / April 1936” translates to “HJ Edition / April 1936.” The attractive red and white front cover features the period Hitler Youth eagle and diamond emblem.
The contents listed on the cover include subjects such as “Das deutsche Heer” (The German Army), “Wie treiben wir Selbstschulung?” (How Do We Conduct Self-Training?), “Übt euch im Erzählen!” (Practice Your Storytelling!), political and ideological instruction, foreign affairs, and an overview of domestic political events.
Of particular interest is the large full-page period photograph of Adolf Hitler meeting with senior German Army officers. The facing page is headed “HJ.-Führer!” (HJ Leader!) and was published in connection with Hitler's 47th birthday on April 20, 1936. The text presents Hitler as an ideological example for HJ leaders, illustrating the type of political indoctrination for which these publications were produced.
The magazine is printed primarily in traditional German typeface and contains additional instructional articles, including “Übt euch im Erzählen!”, or “Practice Your Storytelling!”, which discusses developing public speaking and storytelling abilities among youth leaders.
This April 1936 issue is a documented period publication; an auction archive specifically records April 1936 among surviving HJ-edition issues of Führerblätter der Hitler-Jugend.
The booklet remains in very good overall condition considering its age, showing normal toning, scattered staining/soiling, minor edge and spine wear, and other signs of period handling and storage. The cover remains attractive with strong red printing, and the interior pages and photographic plate display very nicely.
