Mint Unissued Original Waffen SS Albanian Volunteer Sleeve Shield
A mint unissued original Waffen SS Albanian Volunteer sleeve shield, featuring the distinctive black double-headed Albanian eagle woven onto a red shield, all mounted on a smooth black wool backing. These sleeve shields were worn by Albanian volunteers serving with the Waffen SS during WWII and are highly sought-after foreign volunteer insignia.
This example is of the desirable Dachau-made variety, displaying characteristic wartime construction with finely woven machine embroidery on ribbed black wool backing with white threaded reverse. The woven surface is exceptionally tight and detailed, with strong vibrant colors and sharply defined eagle embroidery throughout.
The reverse shows the typical white threaded backing associated with period Dachau manufacture. The shield remains unissued and retains its original shape, showing no signs of wear, damage, or mothing. The embroidery remains crisp and well executed, making for a very attractive display piece.
