Original German WWII M35 Waffen SS Double Decal Helmet Q64

Original German WWII M35 Waffen SS Double Decal Helmet Q64

Offered here is an original German WWII M35 double decal Waffen SS steel helmet manufactured by Quist, Esslingen, and marked Q64. This is an attractive, service-used example displaying considerable character and honest age throughout.

EXTERIOR
The exterior retains a substantial amount of its dark fieldgray/green finish. Considerable areas of the upper surface exhibit paint loss, flaking, scratches, oxidation, and age-related wear, exposing portions of the underlying finish and steel. The overall appearance is consistent with a helmet that saw extensive use rather than an untouched example.

Both decals remain present. The SS shield retains a substantial portion of the shield and runes, showing expected surface wear, age toning, crazing, scratches, and some loss. The opposite side retains the party shield, which likewise exhibits considerable wear and loss but remains readily recognizable. The matching wear and aging of the decals complement the overall condition of the helmet.

INTERIOR
The interior retains its original leather liner. The leather is heavily worn, dry, and fragile from age and use, with considerable deterioration and losses to several of the liner tongues. Despite its condition, the liner remains installed and contributes greatly to the untouched, service-used appearance of the helmet.

Also present is the leather chinstrap, which exhibits substantial age, surface wear, dryness, and oxidation to the hardware. The aluminum buckle retains a aged appearance.

CONDITION
Although the helmet shows considerable service wear and the liner is in fragile condition, it presents extremely well as an honest combat-used example with tremendous character.
