Original Waffen SS Visor Cap Eagle M1/72 by Fritz Zimmerman
Original German WWII Waffen SS cap eagle, die-struck in zinc and maker marked "M1/72" on the reverse, identifying production by Fritz Zimmermann of Stuttgart, one of the recognized manufacturers of SS cap insignia. This example features excellent detail throughout the eagle's feathers, head, and wreath, retaining much of its original silver finish with honest age and light storage wear.
The reverse retains both original attachment prongs, which remain straight and unbroken. The maker's mark "M1/72" is clearly embossed beneath the right wing, while the RZM acceptance mark is visible beneath the left wing. This style of eagle was intended for wear on the black & fieldgray SS visor caps (Schirmmütze) and is a desirable maker marked example for collectors.
