Original German Pre-WWII 1936 Commemorative Olympic Badges (2 pieces)
These badges served several purposes during the
1936 Winter and Summer Olympic Games. While they were souvenirs, they also functioned as promotional items and symbols of participation in an event that the German government used to present a favorable image of the country to the world.
Badge on the Left:
IV. Olympische Winterspiele Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1936 Badge. This is an original badge commemorating the 1936 Winter Olympic Games held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from February 6–16, 1936. The enamel is still vibrant. Shows typical age-wear. The pinback is intact. It is maker marked "FLL" for Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid. Very good condition.
Badge on the Right:
XI. Olympiade Berlin 1936 Brandenburg Gate Badge. This commemorates the 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin. The enamel is still vibrant. Shows typical age-wear. The pinback is intact. It is also marked "Ges Gesch" on the reverse. Very good condition.
