Original German Pre-WWII 1938 & 1937 Event/Tinnie Badges (3 pieces)
A "tinnie" is a small, inexpensive badge or pin produced in large quantities by the NSDAP (1933-1945) to commemorate a wide variety of events, rallies, and fundraising efforts. Despite the name "tinnie," they were made from various materials including metal (aluminum, tin), plastic, glass, wood, or even pressed leather. There are estimated to be over 8,000 different designs of WHW items, ranging from regional crests to fairy tale characters.
The first is a large bronze 1938 Winterberg Heimatschutz commemorative badge. The design features the profile of a German soldier wearing a steel helmet surrounded by the inscription “WIEDERSEHENSFEST DER HEIMATSÖHNE” and “FÜR DIE HEIMAT SÖHNE IM WELTKRIEG.” The lower banner is marked “WINTERBERG 13–14–15 AUG.” Unfortunately the pinback is missing.
The second is a circular 1. Mai 1937 Labor Day badge. The front depicts a standing worker above the German national eagle and is dated “1. MAI 1937.” The reverse retains its original vertical pin and catch and is clearly maker marked “KARL HENSLER / PFORZHEIM.” The darkened finish displays considerable age related oxidation and surface discoloration, while the raised design remains readily visible.
The third is a smaller National Socialist War Victim's Care badge. The reverse retains its horizontal pin assembly and is marked “H2”. The badge exhibits finish loss, oxidation, and age-related wear visible on the reverse.
All three pieces exhibit honest age and wear consistent with age. Please refer to the photographs for additional details and actual condition. Sold as a set.
