Refurbished Original US WWII M1 Fixed Bale Helmet With Westinghouse Liner Medic Marked
EXTERIOR
This is an original U.S. WWII M1 front seam fixed bale helmet shell that was refurbished post-war and repainted in an olive drab textured finish. The helmet displays large two-panel medic insignia on each side consisting of red crosses within white circles. The front of the helmet features a painted red-and-white keystone insignia, likely representing the famed 28th Infantry Division ("Bloody Bucket"), while large two-panel medic markings adorn both sides. The markings were applied over the post-war textured repaint and give the helmet an attractive and distinctive display appearance.
The shell retains its original fixed chinstrap bales and is fitted with its original khaki web chinstrap assembly. The shell shows light handling wear, scattered scuffs, and minor paint loss along the rim, consistent with age and use. The medic markings remain vibrant and display very well.
INTERIOR
The helmet is paired with an original Westinghouse high-pressure liner retaining its original factory paint finish. The liner is complete with its original suspension system, original nape neck strap, and original leather liner chinstrap. The sweatband has been replaced with a quality reproduction example for display and wearability.
The suspension remains solid and functional, with expected age-related wear to the webbing. The liner exhibits a small crack to the body but remains structurally sound and displays well.
CONDITION
A desirable medic-marked M1 helmet set built around an original WWII fixed bale shell and Westinghouse liner. While the medic markings and textured finish are post-war applied, the helmet retains its original WWII components including the shell, liner, suspension, neck strap, chinstrap, and fixed bales. The liner crack is minor and does not detract from the overall presentation. Overall, this helmet remains in very good condition and offers an attractive display piece with strong visual appeal.
