Original German WWII M42 Heer Single Decal Helmet EF68 (Barn Find Condition)
This authentic M42 Heer single decal helmet is a fine example of a wartime-issued piece.
EXTERIOR
Helmet:
Unfortunately there is visible surface rust throughout due to prolonged exposure to the elements.
Decal:
Shadow remnants of the edge of the decal remain visible.
Split Pins:
All three original split pins are intact but are visible rusty. Careful handling is always recommended.
INTERIOR
Shell:
Unfortunately there is visible surface rust throughout. The rear skirt is faintly stamped “EF68”, indicating manufacture by Emaillierwerke Fulda, Germany in size 68.
Liner:
The liner retains its original drawstring, with both leather and cord still in solid, displayable condition; careful handling of aged leather is always recommended.
Chinstrap:
The original chinstrap is also present, though very dry from age and storage; careful handling is strongly advised. It is maker marked and dated 1942.
CONDITION
This helmet is best suited for display or for collectors seeking an untouched example in “as found” condition. Due to the extent of corrosion, it is not recommended for restoration, as preservation in its current state best maintains its historical character.
