An original German WWII M35 Heer steel helmet shell, believed to have been manufactured by Quist in size 66. The markings on the interior have been heavily painted over, making a positive identification difficult.
EXTERIOR:
The helmet exhibits considerable period wear with scratches, scuffs, and areas of paint loss throughout. The Heer eagle decal remains partially intact and has developed an attractive toned appearance. This is a Heer decal and not a Kriegsmarine decal. It was most likely a double decal helmet at one time and then reissued with a dark fieldgray textured paint. At some point, a clear coat was applied to the exterior. The liner and chinstrap are missing, although all three liner split pins remain present.
INTERIOR:
The interior retains much of its period original paint with age, wear, and scattered oxidation consistent with use.
CONDITION:
Overall, the helmet shell remains solid and displays plenty of period character. A good original M35 reissued shell that would also make an excellent candidate for a restoration project.
