Original German Pre-WWII "Saar 1 März 1935" Tinnie Badge by Robinson Oberstein
A "tinnie" is a small, inexpensive badge or pin produced in large quantities by the NSDAP (1933-1945) to commemorate a wide variety of events, rallies, and fundraising efforts. Despite the name "tinnie," they were made from various materials including metal (aluminum, tin), plastic, glass, wood, or even pressed leather. There are estimated to be over 8,000 different designs of WHW items, ranging from regional crests to fairy tale characters.
This is an original commemorative tinnie celebrating the return of the Saar Territory to Germany on March 1, 1935, following the successful Saar plebiscite/referendum.
This stamped brass metal and zinc (center Saar map piece) tinnie is in good condition. The pinback is intact. It has a nice patina and shows typical age-wear and minor finish loss. It is maker marked on reverse.
