Original German WWII Bronze Semi-Hollow Backed Panzer Assault Badge Marked "AS" By Adolf Scholtz

This is an original German WWII Bronze Panzer Assault Badge (Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze) manufactured by Adolf Scholze of Gablonz an der Neiße, maker marked "A.S." This desirable semi-hollow backed variant is a well-known production of Adolf Scholze and is sought after for its distinctive construction and crisp die work.

Die-struck in zinc with its original bronze finish, the badge features excellent detail throughout. The Wehrmacht Panzer tank displays sharply defined road wheels, track links, hull, and turret, while the surrounding oak leaf wreath remains well executed with crisp veining. The national eagle and swastika above the tank retain strong detail, with much of the original bronze finish still present.

The reverse is correctly configured with the characteristic semi-hollow back, and is stamped "A.S." for Adolf Scholze. It retains its original integral hinge, tapered pin, and catch, all of which remain intact and fully functional.

The badge exhibits an attractive, untouched patina developed over more than eighty years. As commonly encountered on wartime zinc awards, there is minor wear to several of the high points on the obverse, revealing small traces of the underlying zinc beneath the original bronze finish. This honest wear is consistent with age and light period use and does not detract from the badge's overall appearance.
