Original German WWII DAF German Labour Front “Worms 2” Organizational Double-Sided Flag/Banner 137cm x 114cm (54" x 45")This is an original German WWII Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF), or German Labour Front, organizational banner from Worms, Germany. The banner features the distinctive DAF cogwheel emblem prominently displayed in the center of the red field.
The large central emblem is of impressive multi-piece construction, with the dark cogwheel, white circular field, and central emblem individually applied and machine sewn to the banner. The detailed photographs nicely show the period stitching and construction.
Of particular interest is the original identification panel sewn into the upper corner. The light brown/tan panel is surrounded by a light blue border and embroidered in white Gothic-style lettering “Worms”, with the numeral “2” directly beneath. This style of identification panel was used for a DAF Ortswaltung (local administration), while the number identified the individual Betrieb (workplace or factory). The banner can therefore be identified as representing Betrieb Nr. 2 within the DAF Ortswaltung Worms.
The banner shows honest period age and use. There are some scattered stains and soiling, along with several small holes and minor areas of fabric loss. The central applied emblem remains very attractive, with strong contrasting colors, and the desirable “Worms 2” identification panel remains completely intact. Overall, this is an attractive and highly identifiable original DAF banner in very good to excellent condition.
