Original German WWII M31 Late War Matching Aluminum Mess Kit (Unmarked)
This is an original late-war German WWII M31 mess kit in excellent, matching condition. The body and lid are manufactured from aluminum, while the folding carry handle, side bale wire, latch, and associated hardware are made of steel, a configuration commonly encountered on late-war production as Germany conserved strategic materials.
This example is unmarked, which is not uncommon for late-war manufactured mess kits. It retains the vast majority of its original factory-applied olive green paint with only minor handling marks and scattered paint loss from storage and light field use. It appears to have seen very little actual service.
Like many German soldiers, the original owner appears to have lightly inscribed his initials on one of the side baling wire posts and beneath the lid handle for identification.
The lid fits securely, the steel latch functions properly, and both the steel folding carry handle and bale wire remain tight and undamaged. The interior is exceptionally clean with very little evidence of use.
Overall, this is a beautiful late-war matching M31 mess kit. Its outstanding original paint, clean interior, and lightly personalized markings make it an excellent addition to any German field equipment collection.
