Unissued Original German WWII NSDAP Musicians Shoulder Swallows Nest (Single)
This is an original German WWII musicians’ shoulder “swallow’s nest” worn by a musician serving within the NSDAP organization. These decorative pieces were normally worn as a matching pair on the shoulders of the uniform.
The insignia is constructed of brown felt with alternating vertical bands of silver aluminum tress. A wide band of matching silver tress follows the curved lower edge. The tress features a finely woven repeating pattern of small swastikas throughout, giving the piece a distinctive and attractive appearance.
The reverse retains its original brown cloth backing and all five metal attachment hooks. It is also clearly ink-stamped “Kreisleitung München der NSDAP,” indicating the Munich district leadership of the NSDAP.
The brown felt remains clean, while the silver tress retains a bright appearance with only minimal age. Overall, this swallow’s nest is in near-mint to mint condition. Unfortunately, its matching mate is no longer present; this listing is for a single shoulder piece only.
