Original German WWII Reichs Arbeits Dienst Leaders Hewer By Carl Julius Krebs With Leather Hanger

Original German WWII Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) Leader’s Hewer by Carl Julius Krebs With Leather Hanger & Maker’s Tag

This is an original Pre-WWII Reichs Arbeits Dienst (RAD) Leader's Dagger, Model 1937, crafted by Carl Julius Krebs of Solingen.

Hilt:
The plated hilt features the distinctive eagle’s head pommel and swept crossguard with the RAD shovel and wheat emblem. The fittings retain a bright finish and fine detail, with light handling marks and scattered tarnish. The hilt assembly remains tightly fitted, and the original leather buffer beneath the crossguard is present.

Grip:
The white celluloid grip plates have developed a light cream tone with age. They retain a smooth surface and remain in excellent overall condition, with minor handling wear. The reverse grip screw is present. Included is the original blue and white Carl Julius Krebs, Solingen tag, attached by a blue cord. It features the crowned “K” trademark and “Seit 1866” wording. The printing remains clearly legible, with light creasing and edge wear to the tag.

Blade:
The single edged, fullered, clip-point blade retains much of its bright finish, with scattered small gray spots and light surface marks. The obverse bears the clearly etched motto “Arbeit adelt” (“Work ennobles”), while the reverse features the crowned “K” Carl Julius Krebs, Solingen maker’s mark. The blade tip remains intact.

Scabbard:
The plated sheet metal scabbard features fine details throughout. There is a visible aged patina, with scattered discoloration and surface scratches. Both suspension fittings and the original throat screws remain present.

Hanger:
The original brown leather double strap hanger accompanies the hewer and retains all original hardware. The leather shows creasing, scuffing, and wear which is to be expected. The metal fittings retain much of their finish, with scattered age toning and wear.

On the market, these RAD Leader hewers range between $2600.00 to $3000.00 WITHOUT a hanger and hangers alone can range from $600.00 to $800.00 if available. Overall, this RAD Leader’s hewer is in excellent condition and is priced to sell. Please refer to the photos for more details and actual condition.
