Original German Post-WWI Landespolizeikommando München Streifstaffel Christmas .5L Beer Stein "Unterwachtmeister Dotterweich Weihnachten 1925"
This is an original German Post-WWI Landespolizei commemorative beer stein presented to Unterwachtmeister (Junior Sergeant) Dotterweich of the Landespolizeikommando München (Munich State Police Command), Streifstaffel (Mounted Patrol Squadron) for Weihnachten (Christmas) 1925.
Crafted of quality glazed stoneware, the front of the stein features a beautifully executed hand-colored design depicting a bridled horse framed within a blue horseshoe, surrounded by riding equipment and laurel branches. Encircling the artwork is the unit designation "Landespolizei München – Streifstaffel", while "Weihnachten 1925" is prominently displayed beneath, commemorating the Christmas season of 1925.
The reverse is personalized with the original owner's name, "U. Wachtm. Dotterweich", identifying the recipient as Unterwachtmeister Dotterweich, adding desirable historical provenance to this attractive presentation piece.
The stein retains its original pewter lid and thumb lift. The thumb lift is formed as a detailed horse's head, perfectly complementing the mounted police theme. The lid features an attractive embossed floral border surrounding a raised scene of the Munich city skyline with the inscription "Kunst Stadt München" (Art City Munich), providing an additional decorative element closely associated with the city.
The stoneware body remains in excellent condition, displaying crisp graphics with vibrant original colors.
