Original Waffen SS Mid Late War Oakleaf A Camouflage Zeltbahn
This is an original mid- to late-war Waffen SS Zeltbahn (shelter quarter) featuring the desirable reversible Oakleaf "A" camouflage pattern. One side displays the spring/summer color, while the reverse features the darker fall/winter camouflage. As commonly encountered on mid- to late war production, the spring/summer side exhibits somewhat subdued colors from age and use, while the fall/winter side retains rich, vibrant camouflage with excellent contrast.
The Zeltbahn remains complete with all of its original zinc grommets, including both the large corner grommets and smaller grommets. Most of the original zinc dish style buttons remain intact, with only one missing near the top edge. The original buttonholes are present throughout.
This example shows honest field use and features two attractive period field repairs near the bottom edge. On the fall/winter side, the repairs have been reinforced using pieces of original Waffen SS camouflage fabric, adding to the shelter quarter's wartime character. There are also a few small tears and scattered areas of wear consistent with service use, but the fabric remains strong and very displayable.
An interior flap for joining with additional Zeltbahns is present and intact, and all major seams remain solid. The Zeltbahn is unmarked, which is not uncommon for mid- to late-war Waffen SS production.
Overall, this is a very attractive original Waffen SS Oakleaf A camouflage Zeltbahn displaying desirable mid to late war construction, vibrant fall camouflage colors, complete hardware, and honest period field repairs that reflect its wartime service.
